Theory:
Courses at the Thuringian State Fire Brigade and Disaster Control School in Bad Köstritz.
Practice:
Basic training, paramedic training and internships within the Gera fire department. The preparatory service concludes with the career training course and the career examination.

Training content:
Ability to lead a group, squadron or unit as an independent tactical unit and to lead an operation with units up to the size of a group.
Course of training:
- Basic training
- Training as a paramedic
- Practical training in the fire and rescue service as well as training to obtain a category C driving license
- Career training course for the middle fire department
