Paragraphs questioned I
The Thuringian Equal Opportunities Act (ThürGleichG) is up for public discussion. Thuringia's Minister for Women's Affairs, Heike Werner, and Thuringia's Equal Opportunities Commissioner, Gabi Ohler, launched a broad participation process on October 5 with around 60 Equal Opportunities Commissioners (EOCs) and people working on equality issues from all over Thuringia. Gera's Gender Equality Officer Catrin Heinrich was also present and will continue to support the debate in the future. Various paragraphs were discussed at the meeting: what has proven to be effective, what has proven to be ineffective or in need of updating? The Thuringian equal opportunities commissioners discussed these questions in depth at their annual conference the following day. In particular, the focus was on how to improve the effectiveness of the law, as some provisions are aimed at important equality factors but are hardly applied in practice.
