Foster care service
Foster care service
Foster care is the placement of children, adolescents and young adults in a foster family. Children and young people who, for various reasons, are unable to live with their parents, either temporarily or for a longer period of time, find a safe place to live with stable structures in a foster family. The foster care service looks after and supports the children and young people, the families of origin and the foster families and tries to develop solutions in consultation with everyone for the benefit of the child.
The aim of foster care is to ensure that children can realize their personal rights and that comprehensive protection is guaranteed. It must be ensured that the children's participation is promoted and their individual abilities are developed in the private setting of the foster family.
The foster care service ensures that foster parents are selected, supported and advised.
The services offered by the Foster Children's Service are designed to protect families from excessive demands by providing support and guidance appropriate to the situation. In addition, foster families receive support through group and training programs.
Their family of origin remains of great importance to the children. Only an open approach to this fact enables the children to express their questions and wishes and is part of the preparation, selection and counseling of foster families. Ideally, a joint cooperation with the family of origin and the foster family is successful in the interests of the child. The care of children and young people also includes the organization of accompanied contact with the family of origin, which is tailored to the respective needs of the child in the help planning.
