Substances hazardous to water

Slurry/slurry/silage

Special attention must be paid to groundwater protection when storing liquid manure, slurry and silage leachate (SSS).

If a facility for the storage of silage leachate with a volume of more than 25 cubic meters or any other JGS facility with a total volume of more than 500 cubic meters is to be constructed, decommissioned or significantly modified, the operator must notify the competent authority in writing at least six weeks in advance.

Installations for the storage of liquid manure, slurry and silage leachate in the floodplain must be set up and installed in such a way that they cannot change their position at the highest possible water level and that substances hazardous to water cannot be washed away or otherwise enter a body of water or a wastewater treatment plant.
